IMAGE Studios, a Utah-based salon suite chain, is building its first Reston-area location at Woodland Park Crossing, the Harris Teeter-anchored shopping center on Highland Crossing Drive in Herndon. On October 30, Fairfax County received 31 building permit applications for 12973 Highland Crossing Drive, one for each suite, numbered 101 through 131. A permit for the overall build-out, filed under the name IMAGE Studios West Reston, went in during August.

A salon suite is a small private studio that a hair stylist, esthetician or other beauty professional rents by the week and runs as their own business, setting their own prices, services and hours. IMAGE Studios rents the rooms and handles the building. The professionals bring the clients.

IMAGE has not posted an opening date. Its West Reston location page lists the address as 12973 Highland Crossing Drive, Suites C and D, Herndon, and describes “luxury salon suites in Woodland Park Crossing, serving Herndon and West Reston.” The company’s directory of professionals lists no one at the location yet.

IMAGE Studios leased 6,241 square feet for its 31 suites

Willard Retail, which leases Woodland Park Crossing, shows IMAGE Studios in 6,241 square feet on its leasing plan for the center. Spread across 31 suites, that works out to roughly 200 square feet each, including hallways and shared space.

IMAGE lists what comes with the rent on its location page: round-the-clock access to a private studio, utilities, high-speed Wi-Fi and a shared waiting area. The studios have White Cyprus cabinetry, and the stylist suites come with styling chairs and shampoo systems. Professionals can book clients through the IMAGE Pro app, built on the GlossGenius booking platform.

IMAGE does not publish rents for the West Reston location. On its website, the company puts its all-inclusive rents at $250 to $800 a week or more, depending on the size of the suite and the market.

IMAGE has grown to more than 130 locations since 2009

Jason Olsen founded IMAGE Studios in 2009 and opened the first location in Draper, Utah, according to the company’s history, and the company began franchising in 2015. The company, based in Salt Lake City, counted 135 open locations across 29 states in a March 2026 announcement. Each location is independently owned and operated, and the West Reston page does not name the owner.

The Herndon studios join a short list in Northern Virginia. IMAGE’s location pages show an open studio on Sudley Road in Manassas and one at 7136 Leesburg Pike in West Falls, with Leesburg and Arlington listed as coming soon. Woodland Park Crossing will be the company’s first location in Reston or Herndon.

GiGi Urbano, Donatos and Loud’n Roasted are also moving into Woodland Park Crossing

IMAGE Studios is one of several new tenants at the center in 2026:

  • GiGi Urbano Italian Kitchen. Tisha and Bill Downes, who own URBANO in Sterling’s Cascades Overlook, are opening an Italian sandwich shop in the former Manhattan Pizza space, about 1,300 square feet, The Burn reported in April. After “some unanticipated delays,” the owners hoped to open in October, according to a September update.
  • Donatos Pizza. The Ohio pizza chain leased about 2,000 square feet next to Massage Envy, the first of the stores its local operator plans for Herndon, Ashburn and Reston, according to The Burn.
  • Loud’n Roasted Coffee. Loud’n Roasted, which has shops in Chantilly and Ashburn, is taking over the space Meanwhile Coffee left in August. We covered its plans in October.
  • ProFlex Physical Therapy. A building permit application for a second-floor ProFlex clinic at 12950 Highland Crossing Drive went in during September.

Elsewhere in Woodland Park, the Board of Supervisors approved Parkline at Woodland Park on October 27, a plan to replace three office buildings off Sunrise Valley Drive with 429 to 584 homes.

We will add IMAGE Studios’ opening date here when the company sets one. If you live near Woodland Park and are weighing a move, reach out. We sell homes across Herndon and Reston.
