If âwalkable to downtown Herndonâ is on your wish list, this Craftsman bungalow is the kind of find people wait for. Itâs full of charm, starting with a front porch that reminds you of childhood summers with friends, lemonade, and a porch swing.
Inside, youâve got 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and a layout that works for real life. Two bedrooms and a full bath are on the main level, and one bedroom has built-in shelves that make it an easy home office. The living room has big windows and a wood stove that gives the whole space a cozy feel when the weather turns.
Upstairs, the primary suite feels like a true retreat with walk-in closets, a sitting area, laundry nearby, and a primary bath with a clawfoot tub that fits the homeâs character perfectly.
One of the best parts is the lot. Itâs a rare double lot on a corner, which gives you breathing room now and flexibility later. If youâre someone who enjoys improving a home over time and making it your own, this one has the space and potential to do it thoughtfully.
And of course, the location is the headline: downtown Herndon, the W&OD Trail, local restaurants, and community events are all right there. Itâs the kind of place where you can actually leave the car at home and still have a full weekend.

Big development proposal near the Herndon Metro đđď¸
The former T-Mobile office campus at Sunrise Valley Dr + Fairfax County Pkwy could be headed for a major transformation into a new transit-oriented neighborhood.
Whatâs being proposed (early concept):
đď¸ 1,000+ homes total, including 174 income-restricted units
đ˘ A mix of 4 multifamily buildings + ~210 townhouses (including 110 stacked units)
đď¸ A one-story building near the Metro garage repurposed as a community center
đł 2.92 acres of urban parkland with amenities shown like seating areas, playground, common green, pavilion/amphitheater, and pickleball
đ˛ Potential improvements along Sunrise Valley to support safer bike + pedestrian connections
This is still early in the rezoning process, so details can change, but itâs a big sign of where this corridor could be headed as growth concentrates around Metro.

Big development news near the Herndon Metro station đđď¸
The former T-Mobile office campus along Sunrise Valley Drive (right by Fairfax County Parkway) is being proposed for a major transformation. A Reston-based builder, Stanley Martin, has filed a rezoning application for a project called East Link that would replace the aging office buildings with a new transit-oriented neighborhood.
Here are the highlights locals should know:
â¨đď¸ More than 1,000 new residences are being proposed, including 174 income-restricted unitsâ¨đ˘ The plan shows four multifamily buildings plus around 210 townhouses, including stacked townhomesâ¨đď¸ A one-story brick building next to the Metro garage would be repurposed into a community centerâ¨đł Nearly 3 acres of park space is part of the concept, with a playground, common green, pavilion with amphitheater-style seating, and even a pickleball courtâ¨đ˛ Along Sunrise Valley Drive, the proposal includes upgraded bike and pedestrian connections, including a separated cycle track concept.
This is still early in the process, but it gives a clear picture of where this corridor could be headed as Reston and Herndon continue to grow around Metro. If you live nearby, this is the kind of project that can shape daily life, from traffic patterns to where you spend time outdoors.
What would you want most here: more green space, more housing options, or more retail mixed in?

Why canât these new projects ever include some single family homes??? Nothing huge just so smaller single family homes that would appeal to the 55+ crowd or young families that want some yard for their kids
Terrible. As many have already commented - this is just adding more congestion to small area with small roads. An overpass wonât alleviate much - most people will be headed to/from 267 and need to turn onto FFX pkwy from Sunrise valley and thereâs no land for a clover. Additionally - why is it all housing/community center? They should want to attract small businesses or a small grocer there to accommodate that and the adjacent existing neighborhood population - the existing Harris teeter is too far. And lastly (and maybe most importantly) - such HIDEOUS architecture. Reston used to be known for its unique homes. Look at the homes on lakes and even the apartments on Lake Anne, despite being brutalist, they were different and stylish (for their time) what happened?! Everything now is so utilitarian and sterile.

If youâve never stopped at The Traveling Shepherd Coffee Company, hereâs why itâs worth the detour.
The owner, Brandon, sources beans from 25+ countries, then roasts and brews them in the styles those places are known for. When you chat with him, you do not just order coffee. You get the story behind it, and somehow the cup tastes even better once you know where it came from. đ
We recently got to tour his roasting setup, and heâs roasting fresh every week. That freshness is a big part of why so many people keep coming back. Thereâs a growing crew of regulars who show up week after week, and it feels more like catching up with friends than waiting in line. đ¤
đ Where to find him locallyâ¨Fox Mill South Reston Park and Ride (2531 Reston Pkwy, Reston)â¨đď¸ Fridays, 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM (year round, weather permitting)
đŤ Bonus: he also partnered with River-Sea Chocolates for a special bar made to pair with his coffee. If you love coffee and chocolate together, do not skip that.
Have you tried The Traveling Shepherd yet, and whatâs your go-to order?

@seanhickeyphotography that's true, they do already have meal taxes at various rates. Not sure if the county could impose it on the incorporated cities, at least?
@seanhickeyphotography yes, the exempt towns already have a tax that is equal or higher. For example, Herndon's is 4.5%
