Comment “Bowman” below and I’ll add you to my VIP list so you can get all of the details about this development as it comes available. 🏡
A piece of Reston history is getting a new lease on life. The 1899 Bowman Manor is staying put—but the surrounding office buildings? They’re being replaced by 57 modern townhomes designed by EYA. Think optional elevators, rooftop terraces, and garden-style pocket parks all tucked just across the street from the future Sunset Station. 🌳✨
This isn’t just about new homes—it’s about honoring the past while building what Reston needs now. And if you know that ivy-covered brick wall on Old Reston Ave, you know exactly the spot. 👀
Want in as soon as floor plans drop? Comment “Bowman” to join the VIP list.

I’m more curious about what’s going to replace Whole Foods at plaza america- do you have the scoop? @greaterrestonliving
@greaterrestonliving actually, sorry about that. The Food Hall is coming to the right of Five Guys. There are rumors of a Lidl coming to the old Whole Foods spot but nothing official yet!
@pariwinkle26 we did a video on Plaza America about 2 months ago. A food hall called Wonder will be taking the WF spot.😊
@greaterrestonliving that’s a relief! me too!! Would love to see it brought back to life!
@gbommer079 no, the distillery building is across the street and will remain untouched. Would love to see it restored one day, though, right?!

🤔 Bet you didn’t know one of the East Coast’s biggest digital hubs is tucked behind Sunrise Valley Drive! CoreSite already runs two massive data centers there, and they’ve just filed to add two more three-story buildings—pushing the campus to 1.3 million sq ft of servers.⚡
Neighbors in Reston’s Cocquina Cluster say the county notice was mis-addressed, so they’re scrambling to weigh in on potential noise, energy use, and those looming 75-foot walls. Fairfax County will decide whether tech growth or community concerns win out.
Would you trade quiet backyards for a high-tech fortress (and a bump in tax revenue)? Drop your thoughts below, tag a friend who loves staying in the Reston loop, and let’s talk! #greaterrestonliving

There are zero downsides to data centers. They produce no noise, no traffic, and nobody even knows they are there. People need to stop being NIMBYs or move to an area not smart enough to benefit from easy tax dollars and construction jobs.
@rymichels well, I'd say you're right about the traffic part, but they certainly do produce a tremendous amount of noise from all of the air conditioning (ask anyone living in Ashburn and they will tell you about the constant hum). They also use a tremendous amount of water and electricity putting strains on the electric grid. Also, these neighbors will definitely notice the 75 foot wall only 25 feet from the edge of their backyards. Having said that, the tax revenue may be worth it in some cases. I'm not saying they are all bad, but it's definitely not true that there are no downsides. Thanks for weighing in, though. I do appreciate you watching and commenting!😍
No, we don’t need anymore. I live not far from those data centers. Besides, you forgot to mention the amount of water that they use also. Not many people know about the amount of water that it takes to run those data centers. A friend of mine has been fighting them out and Prince William County for at least 15 years.
@michaelagabor very true. What happens when a breakthrough happens and computer power requires half the space that these things take up?

Drop “wharf” in the comments for price & details 🌊👇
Waterfront living just leveled up. Welcome to The Wharf, Reston’s hidden shoreline enclave where a 4-bed, 4-bath, 2,400-sq-ft contemporary townhome feels like a private resort. Think soaring wood ceilings framing water views, a chef-ready kitchen that flows to a wraparound deck, a dramatic loft for WFH or studio dreams, and a lower-level primary suite that opens right to the water—houseboat vibes without the wobble. A detached two-car garage is topped by a full guest suite ready for visitors, in-laws, or extra income. Paddleboard at sunrise, toast sunsets over the fountains, then fall asleep to the hush of waterfalls.
So what should we call this sparkling blue—lake, pond, or lagoon? Cast your vote below and let me know. ✨

@rupistep I know, right?! That guy reminds me of that crazy lady many years ago that drove her kids into the lake. As my Mom always said, “sick, sick, sick.”🤢
@author_sarah_hickner yes...lots of mythology around this one. We think we got it all sorted out. You can check out this blog post with more details on our website: https://greaterrestonliving.com/restons-nudist-colony-murder-the-true-story-of-green-forest/
@anaeveling I know, right?! So many stories to share...stay tuned for more...lol. 😊
@vh2lbk right...we had to really sift through the rumors to find what was real about the place and the story. Pretty sure we've zeroed in on the place now. Of course, this all happened before Reston was Reston. 😊

🌸🏗️ Outdated offices on Alexander Bell Drive could soon bloom into 144 new townhomes! This under-used slice of South Reston—between Wiehle Ave & Hunter Mill Rd, steps from the W&OD Trail and Sunrise Valley Elementary—may trade 1980s concrete for walkable paths, a roomy central green, and stacked + classic townhouses … provided our beloved cherry blossoms stay untouched.
Fairfax Now says the rezoning request is in county review, part of a bigger push to rethink the Toll Road corridor. Imagine hopping on the trail, strolling to school, and still being minutes from Metro. Empty parking lots ➜ vibrant community?
Drop your take below and share with a friend who needs to know everything happening in Reston! 🏡🚴♀️🤔

📏 Plot sizes range from cozy 120 sq ft beds to spacious 600 sq ft mini-farms, some dating back to the 1960s with generations of local green thumbs tending them.
