greaterrestonliving Tephra ICA Arts Festival is back at Reston Town Center this Saturday and Sunday 🎨 This is one of those weekends Reston was basically made for. Over 200 artists traveling from about 30 states set up in the open-air streets of Reston Town Center, and the whole thing is free to attend. You can browse original paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, and more, then turn around and have a conversation with the person who made it. That access to the artists themselves is what sets this festival apart from any ordinary art market. This year marks the 35th anniversary, and Tephra ICA is pulling out some extras: a People’s Choice Award in honor of festival founder Judith Forst, artist demos, guided tours, a Festival Art Park for kids, food vendors, and live performances. Capital One Hall is also activating Market Street with an interactive installation that visitors help create. Parking in the Reston Town Center garages is free all weekend 🚗 If you’re taking Metro, the Silver Line stops at Reston Town Center Station and the festival is about a 10-minute walk from there. greaterrestonliving Colvin Run Mill in Great Falls is one of those places that makes you stop and actually breathe for a minute. The mill has been here since the early 1800s, the general store still sells NECCO Wafers from 1847, and the whole site runs events year round. The Maple Syrup Boil Down is our favorite.
