MyDefence, a Danish company that builds equipment to detect and jam hostile drones, opens its North American headquarters today on Sunrise Valley Drive in Reston. The 7,180-square-foot office starts with about 35 people, and William Ostrowski, president and CEO of MyDefence North America, expects about 50 within a year, according to the Washington Business Journal as summarized in FFXnow’s morning notes.

The company’s opening announcement names the Pentagon, Capitol Hill and key defense agencies as the draw, and Ostrowski says Reston puts MyDefence “at the center of the conversations” about how its equipment reaches troops and police. The Business Journal reported that the company took no local, state or federal incentives for the move. The opening program calls for a ribbon cutting and a live counter-drone demonstration, ExecutiveBiz reported, with a keynote by retired Army Gen. John Murray, who joined MyDefence North America’s advisory board in May.

MyDefence builds wearable drone detectors and long-range jammers

MyDefence’s counter-drone products, which the industry calls C-UAS (counter-unmanned aircraft systems), listen for the radio signals that connect a drone to its pilot, and its jammers broadcast interference that cuts that connection. Its newest detector, the Wingman Edge, weighs under a kilogram and clips to a soldier’s vest. Its Boxer jammer, launched in June, covers nine frequency bands and reaches up to 10 kilometers, depending on line of sight and antenna height.

The company traces its origins to 2009 and is based in Nørresundby, across the Limfjord from Aalborg. It reported a record 2025 net profit of 125.4 million Danish kroner and grew from 52 employees at the start of 2025 to 135 by May 2026. In July 2025 the U.S. Army placed a $26 million order, the largest in the company’s history, and in February MyDefence opened a production plant in Oklahoma City. It also has a U.S. office in Clearwater, Florida.

The new office sits in Makers Point, an office park proposed for townhouses

MyDefence lists its address as 11180 Sunrise Valley Drive, and the Business Journal reported 11190. Both buildings belong to Makers Point, a three-building office campus from the late 1980s on the north side of Sunrise Valley Drive, just south of the Dulles Toll Road, in the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station area.

Makers Point was 56 percent leased when it went on the market in fall 2025 in a lender-driven sale, meaning the mortgage holder pushed the sale. Berman Enterprises bought the campus in January for $21.5 million. A Bridge Investment Group affiliate had paid $54 million for it in 2018.

In August a Berman affiliate asked Fairfax County to rezone the site for 234 to 557 homes: townhouses only, or townhouses plus one apartment building of up to seven stories. The plan would demolish the nearly empty 11130 building first and keep 11180 and 11190 as offices until their leases expire. MyDefence has not disclosed its lease term.

MyDefence joins Anduril, Booz Allen and V2X in the Dulles corridor

Anduril has build-out permits at One Freedom Square in Reston Town Center, Booz Allen is moving its global headquarters to Reston Station, V2X opened its headquarters in Reston in December 2024, and GRVTY filed for a sign permit in Herndon in September.

Fifty jobs are too few to show up in Reston’s monthly home sales. Approval of the Makers Point rezoning would add between 234 and 557 homes near the Wiehle-Reston East station, built in phases as the office leases run out.

If a job along Sunrise Valley Drive has you weighing a move, we sell homes across Reston and Herndon and can talk through the neighborhoods closest to the office parks south of the toll road.
